Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
This position is funded by the Support Account for peacekeeping Operations for a finite period of one year and may be extended subject to budgetary approval.

This position is located in the Logistics Support Division (LSD) in the Department of Field Support (DFS) at headquarters. The Logistics Support Division (LSD) provides strategic direction and advice on logistical matters, monitors and assesses the delivery of transportation and specialist support services in the functional areas of air transport, surface transport, engineering, medical and supply, as well as aviation safety operations. Furthermore, the Division is responsible for the property management framework of field missions and monitors compliance with the IPSAS valuation and reporting requirements. The LSD has been mandated to implement the supply chain management vision and strategy for a well-managed and agile supply chain to support United Nations field missions with effectiveness and efficiency through integrated 'end-to-end' processes, starting with robust planning and managing global demand, strategic sourcing, consolidated delivery and return, supported by a strong performance management framework. The Logistics Operations Officer reports to the assigned team lead.
工作內(nèi)容
Within delegated authority, the Logistics Operations Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
? Contributes to the planning and coordination of the supply chain requirements, and prepares logistics and support plans, deployment timelines and budget requirements for planned, new, sustaining, expanding, contracting peacekeeping missions. Develops contingency plans for missions. Develops and implements methodologies and tools to enable effective execution of logistic plans.
? Conducts annual review of the demand plan with monthly/quarterly updates in consultation with Global Service Center (GSC) and field missions to ensure that the plans are aligned with missions’ updated requirements and are fit for purpose.
? Collaborates and coordinates planning with the relevant actors, including field missions, service centres, headquarters divisions and services within the logistics divisions to ensure that the global demand is analysed and reviewed accurately. Prepares historic, current and future demands for goods and services.
? Provide inputs with updated plans to facilitate effective and efficient execution of sourcing and delivery
? Formulates mission specific Standard Operating Procedures. Contributes to the development of supply chain planning policies, guidelines and procedures and ensures the implementation thereof within the Unit / Section.
? Ensures that supervised staff are adequately trained, cross trained; identifies additional training needs to achieve high working standards.
? Coordinates and ensures s logistics support to ongoing air, land, sea, or rail operations in a field mission.
? Ensures that logistics requirements take account of gender-specific needs.
? Coordinates logistics activities with procurement, finance, human resources, policy and other substantive units.
? Participates in technical survey missions and verification missions to troop contributing countries
? Ensures that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained.
? Coordinates logistics operations with other UN agencies, military and other organisations in the field.
? Guides and supervises new/junior staff.
? Performs other related duties as required.

專業(yè)要求
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, public administration, logistics, supply chain management, engineering, law or other relevant field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
工作經(jīng)驗
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in logistics planning, supply chain management or related field is required. Experience in providing logistics and supply chain support services to or in a complex, volatile, conflict or post-conflict environment is desirable. Experience in an international environment is desirable.
語言要求
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
