This position is located in the UN News / Spanish unit of the News Section I in the News and Content Branch of the News and Media Division of the Department of Public Information (DPI). The Section produces daily news and feature stories, magazine programmes, and multi-media pieces for the UN News digital platform, incorporating audio and video elements, as well as social media content. It serves as the news agency of the UN system worldwide covering stories from the field, meetings of principal UN bodies, campaigns, events and activities. Overall, UN News delivers content in eight languages (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese and Kiswahili).The incumbent reports to the Chief of the News Section I.

Within delegated authority and depending on location, the Public Information Officer may be responsible for the following duties:
?Takes the lead in strategy, planning and development in producing a range of Spanish-language multi-media content in promoting universal ideas of the organization (e.g. global promotion initiatives, public information programmes for a region, broad-reaching subject specific issues, etc.); where appropriate, to media organizations and the public around the world.
?Identifies sources to promote and maintain regular communication with UN partners, broadcasting organisations, media outlets and seeks feedback on the use of content produced by the relevant language unit.
?Provides advice and expertise to managers, senior officers and other public information staff on issues related to the production of multimedia (including audio) and online news, and related content for target audiences.
?Prepares or oversees preparation of the production of news and feature content, performing digital editing and management of audiovisual files, handling operational and editorial guidance to the staff, assigning and editing news stories and ensuring all content is in line with editorial guidelines.
?Keeps abreast of latest developments in multimedia production, technological innovations and marketing techniques in the online, radio broadcast and social media industries and ensures the successful application to the productions in the relevant language unit. ?Evaluates results and impact of communications activities using analytics tools; reports on developments, trends and attitudes regarding the UN.
?Represents the institution in meetings and conferences planning and implementing promotional efforts including media coverage through effective liaison with media contacts and broadcasting organizations on major issues and events concerning the organization.
?Is responsible for the substantive and administrative activities of the unit, providing procedural advice, and improving reporting systems,
?Supervises the work of the unit. Manages performance of the staff by discussing individual work plans and evaluating job performance.

專業(yè)要求
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in communication, journalism, international relations, public administration or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
工作經(jīng)驗
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or related area. Experience writing, producing and narrating/voicing programmes and text-based news stories in the relevant broadcast language is required. Experience working in a daily news environment, including creating multimedia and social media ready content is required. Experience in digital desk-top audio editing, content management posting, micro-video creation and digital publishing is desirable. Experience in providing editorial guidance and editing online copy in a newsroom context desirable. Experience in managing newsroom transformations is desirable.
語言要求
English and French are the languages of the UN Secretariat. For this post fluency in English is required. Fluency in Spanish is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
