Under the direction of the Senior Medical Officer, the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Medical Officer manages the development, implementation and day to day requirements of the Medical Services Division's occupational safety and health management system, including policy and standards, incident reporting and analysis, clinical support and liaison with workplace safety and health stakeholders.

工作內(nèi)容

Within delegated authority and under the guidance of the Senior Medical Officer, the Occupational Safety and Health Medical Officer will be responsible for:

Providing occupational safety and health (OSH) policy and guidance:
?Monitor international technical and regulatory information and guidelines.
?Identify appropriate technical standards for introduction into UN policies and guidance.
?Liaise with key partners for OSH including the Field Occupational Safety Risk Management Program, Staff Counsellors, Safety and Security, Staff Association, Human Resources and Facilities Management for the introduction of an occupational safety and health management system.
?Develop, implement, monitor and revise OSH policy and guidance.
Providing professional and technical support on occupational health matters to UN Physicians, Safety Officers and Safety Focal Points worldwide:
?Provide expert advice to the Occupational Safety and Health Technical Working Group regarding risk assessment and controls.
?Conduct or assist with OSH training courses for staff.
?Support the design and implementation of appropriate health screening and follow-up programs for high risk occupational groups such as drivers, security officers, travelers and emergency response workers.
?Undertake field workplace risk assessments.
?Develop a process for organizational and location specific OSH risk registers.
Managing workplace incident reporting:
?Establish an incident reporting system that is integrated with the EarthMed electronic medical record.
?Review incidents, initiate further investigation as required, analyze trends in occupational incidents, and recommend system corrective actions to continuously improve health and safety in UN workplaces.
?Provide comprehensive analysis of work-related injuries and illnesses and their effect on healthcare costs, sick leave, workers compensation and disability.
Providing clinical support:
?Provide clinical care for emergencies, injuries and illnesses in the workplace.
?Supervise and support Headquarters-based office ergonomics, health and wellness programs.
?Provide clinical/administrative support regarding individual health issues such as sick leave, medical clearances, medical evacuations, compensation and disability.
?Perform other occupational safety and health related duties as directed.

專業(yè)要求

Doctorate (MD) or equivalent in medicine, including residency/internship in one of the medical specialties, preferably occupational health. Post graduate qualifications in occupational health, industrial hygiene or industrial safety desirable.

工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)

A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible medical experience, including experience in the fields of workplace health and safety, is required. Experience in occupational safety assessment, industrial hygiene, and incident investigation and reporting is desirable.

語言要求

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is desirable.
