The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) is responsible for providing leadership, operational support and oversight of the security management system to enable the safest and most efficient conduct of the security programmes and activities of the United Nations System. This post is located in the Threat and Risk Assessment Service within the Division of Regional Operations (DRO). The incumbent will work under the general guidance of the Senior Threat and Risk Assessment Officer and under the supervision of the Chief of Threat and Risk Assessment Service.

This Security Information Analyst post is responsible for the following duties:
?Advises and provides guidance to the CSAs/ SAs/ with regards to Regional and Country specific threats affecting the United Nations;
?Develops and coordinates security threat information requirements, acquisition, examination, collation, analysis, and dissemination of security threat information to relevant clients;
?Analyses trends of security incidents affecting United Nations system personnel, assets and operations in specific countries in the designated region;
?Conducts strategic security threat information liaison visits (SSTILV) to determine if the security threat information management system is functioning properly and in compliance with established Security Analysis Process and Practice Standards;
?Participates in development of procedures of security operations, contributing with preparation and review of briefs for UN and other key decision makers on current/significant security-related events in the designated region;
?Provides briefing materials such as periodic security threat information alerts, notices, warnings, and advisories on security for DSS senior management and Designated Officials on security threats;
?Maintains continuing awareness of prevailing security conditions for designated region, developing technical knowledge and awareness of security threat environments, identifying probable threats by preparation of profiles of specific threat factors impacting the security environment in which the United Nations operates, analysing trends of security incidents affecting the United Nations, and advising on potential impacts of threats on the relevant United Nations staff accordingly;
?Identifies, through field research of threat actors, the operating environment of the UN in liaison with host government’s security interlocutors;
?Prepares early warning reports and indicators on security threats, as a planning tool for DSS Senior Management;
?Prepares analytical reports on security incidents and develop strategic assessments on trends of security threats affecting United Nations system personnel, assets and operations in the designated region for dissemination to relevant clients;
?Contributes to the development of security plans for a specific country or geographical area by conducting regional or country-specific threat and risk assessments for the United Nations;
?Performs other analytical and research assignments and duties as required.

專業(yè)要求
An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in political, military or international relations or related fields. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
工作經(jīng)驗
At least five years of progressively responsible experience in applied military, police, or political predictive analysis is required. At least two years of international experience in a multilateral organization in the field of criminology or corporate security is required. Experience in security management systems for an international organization is desirable.
語言要求
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
