This position is located in the United Nations Global Compact Office in New York, which is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative that seeks to advance universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption through the active engagement of the private sector and civil society. The Programme Officer, which will oversee the integrity policies of the initiative, will report to the Chief Programme Officer, Governance and Sustainability.

工作內(nèi)容

Within delegated authority, the Programme Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

? Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the integrity policies and procedures designed to safeguard the UN Global Compact. This includes, but is not limited to, managing integrity issues that arise in the context of companies joining, engaging with, or being de-listed from the UN Global Compact. It also includes management of the UN Global Compact’s due diligence process and logo policy. , Monitors and analyzes development and implementation of integrity and due diligence policies and procedures; Reviews relevant documents and reports on ethical business and sustainability issues; Identifies integrity issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties including Global Compact Local Networks and the companies concerned; Identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
? Plans and facilitates integrity and due diligence workshops and other interactive sessions to build the capacity of Global Compact staff members and Local Networks around the world to consistently support high standards of integrity. Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
? Assists in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies in relation to the UN’s efforts to develop a more coherent approach to due diligence across the UN System.
? Support the UN Sustainable Development Group with the development of a common platform for sharing due diligence information across the UN System.
? Maintains a close relationship and consults with the Office of Legal Affairs on matters requiring their advice and coordinates with the Foundation for the Global Compact on OFAC related issues and due diligence.
? Liaise with other UN entities to share due diligence information and best practices and promote the UN Global Compact Ten Principles as a common due diligence standard.
? Undertakes survey initiatives and designs data collection tools aimed at better responding to the integrity challenges that arise; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares recommendations to be considered by the Executive Management and UN Global Compact Board.
? Prepares various written outputs including due diligence reports, alongside recommendations on risks and risk management actions to be considered.
? Develop briefing notes, quarterly input to the UN Global Compact Management Report and other documentation detailing integrity issues and insights.
? Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings from an integrity perspective, including proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
? Conducts training workshops and seminars and makes presentations on integrity and due diligence, topics/activities.
? Coordinates activities related to budget and funding for the integrity and due diligence work and prepares related documents/reports. Performs other duties as required.

專業(yè)要求

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in law, business administration, management, international relations, economics, or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

工作經(jīng)驗(yàn)

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration or related area. Experience with corporate due diligence processes, integrity measures and evaluation is required. Experience in law practice and in corporate sustainability is required.

語言要求

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of a second official UN language is an advantage.
